Alice Allsteadt was born on August 16th, 1934 to Randolph D. and Eldra S. Thomas. She lived most of her life in Des Moines, also residing in Davenport and Cedar Rapids. She retired to Tampa Florida before moving back to Des Moines to be with her family.
Alice had many careers over the years, one of her first being a hostess at Bishop’s Buffet in Merle Hay mall. Her last job was as an office manager for the Parent Training and Information Center of Iowa in Des Moines before retiring.
Alice had six children and found happiness and joy when she was with her family. She loved family celebrations held on holidays, when everyone could gather together for wonderful meals and time together as a family. Alice was very proud of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending their birthday parties, graduations and marriages.
Alice is survived by three daughters: Joy Johnson of Lincoln NE, Pam (John) Burns of Johnston, Gayla (Randy) Beers of West Des Moines and a son Ronald J. Allsteadt of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren: Matt (Christina) Johnson, Kara (Mike) Goodrich, Kristie Keener, Conner Beers, Callie (Michael) Bell, Courtney Campbell, Maelynn Allsteadt and Sidney Allsteadt. Alice had six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Alice is preceded in death by sons: Paul Watts, Randy J. Allsteadt and son in law Steve Johnson.
Alice also enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida by going to the beach and soaking up the sun. Her family is very grateful to her for teaching everyone the importance of family and for being there for each other in the good times and the bad.
