Carol Makrenos was born August 17, 1933 in Chios, Greece, the daughter of George and Marika (Skinitis) Makrenos. In 1947 at the age of 13, her family moved to the United States. Carol lived in Pennsylvania until 2007 when she moved to the Des Moines area. She spent the last several years living at The Rose of Des Moines and Pine Acres in West Des Moines where she made many friends.
Carol passed away on February 20, 2022 at Pine Acres. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 4 at Merle Hay Funeral Home.
Carol is survived by her nieces Diana Lemos and Joan Lemos; as well as her friends at The Rose and Pine Acres. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Mary Makrenos Lemos.
