Cheryl Jean Counley Mclaird passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 8301 NW Aurora Ave, Urbandale, Iowa, 50322, with services starting at 10:30 a.m. Following the service Cheryl will be taken to North Lawn Cemetery in Ft. Dodge for burial next to her mother.
Cheryl was born on May 8, 1960, to Richard and Jane Ann Counley in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was raised in Storm Lake, Sioux Falls, South Dakota and ultimately Urbandale, Iowa where she called home. She graduated from Urbandale High School and attended Des Area Community College.
In 1976 she began her career with Mercy Medical Center as an Instrument Tech. She held various positions including Supervisor throughout her 43 years with Mercy. She was a member of American Society for Healthcare Central Service Personnel of the American Hospital Association.
Cheryl had a kind loving spirit and devotion. She loved her family and pets unconditionally. She enjoyed sharing her interests of music, NASCAR, animals, and whimsical unicorns with all. Cheryl especially took pride in her first car an IROC Camaro she called Z Baby which fueled her interest in NASCAR.
Cheryl was proceeded in death by mother; Jane Ann Counley.
She is survived by father; Richard Counley, brother; David Counley and Sister-In-Law; Nylene Counley, niece; Alissa Counley and family, nephew; Brett Counley and family, as well as cousins and friends.
She was loved and will be eternally missed.
