Dellamae Dennison Tasler

Dellamae Dennison Tasler,85, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2023 at the Karen Acres Care Center in Urbandale. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 21st at 11 am, visitation will be from 10 am until service time at the Merle Hay Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Rd Des Moines. Burial will be at the Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.


Della was born in Oskaloosa on August 6, 1937 to John and LaVaugh (Archbold) Dennison before moving to a farm near Knoxville, IA. She attended school in Dallas, IA (now Melcher-Dallas) after moving to a farm at the edge of town. After graduation she moved to Des Moines for nursing to become an RN. That is where she met and married her husband of 65 years, Gene Tasler. Gene & Dellamae Dennison we’re married January 5, 1958, moving to Urbandale shortly after. Together they had 4 children, David, Tonja, Michael and John.


Della had many interests. She enjoyed doing private duty nursing, was a member of Meredith Drive Reformed Church, was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), she loved to paint, enjoyed baking, shopping was her favorite hobby and she loved to read. She also made recording for the Iowa School for the Blind.


Della is survived by her husband Gene and 4 children, David (Mary Wellman) Tasler, Tonja (James Lynch) Parish, Michael (Stefanie) Tasler and John (Tam) Tasler. Seven grandchildren, Jamie (Rob) Oxenford, Holly (Derek) Parish, Luke Tasler, Millie Tasler, Garison Tasler, Graceann Tasler and Gibson Tasler. One brother-in-law, Richard (DeeAnn) Tasler, four sister in laws, Lila Tenney, Katy (Gene) Loomis, Linda (Dave) Holmes and Paula Larkin. She is also survived by her beloved niece, Dawn Marie Willging, and many other nieces and nephews that she loved to bake and make candy with.


Della was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Larry, Willard, baby sister Willa and Sister-in-law Helen Dennison. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
