Dianne Lucille Loy, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 18, 2025, at Park Centre in Newton, Iowa.  Dianne was born in Des Moines on August 1st, 1945, to Clarence and Vesta (Jacobsen) Loy.  She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1963, attended Northwest Missouri State and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Drake University in 1981. Dianne was a dedicated geriatric social worker at Methodist Medical Center and was proud to work for the Des Moines Public Library.  She was an advocate for women’s rights, passionate about music, an avid reader, but most importantly loved spending time with her three daughters and doting on 2 grandsons.
Â
Those who went before her were Dianne’s parents, beloved sister Susan, nephew David Lee, and many aunts and uncles.Â
We who are left to remember are her daughters Shelley (Mark) Koons, Jennifer (Angelo) Martinez, Chris (Keith) Lydon; grandchildren Tyler and Nicholas Martinez; sisters Karen Neuman and Deborah (Daniel) Flanery along with beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, at Merle Hay Funeral Home (4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310). A visitation will be held at 10AM with a memorial service following at 11AM. A committal service will follow the Memorial Service at Chapel Hill Cemetery, there will be a luncheon following the burial back in the Merle Hay Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her daughters to be distributed to the causes close to her heart.Â
We would like to thank the special care given to Dianne over the years by Dr. Ryan Tomlinson MD and Sara Simpson RN, Wesley Life Hospice and Park Centre Care.Â
