Domagoj Tiric passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 25th, 2023.
A Farewell Gathering will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023, the Merle Hay Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Rd. in Des Moines from 4 to 6 pm.
Domagoj was born on January 5th, 1959 in Bugojno, BiH (former Yugoslavia) to mother Nevenka, and father Dusko. He moved to Sarajevo when he was still a young boy. Here, he would spend his formative years.
He met his wife, Dijana, while they were both studying together at the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Architecture. They married on January 25th, 1992, where they enjoyed a blissful few months before war broke out that very same year. Together, they emigrated to Des Moines, Iowa where he would welcome his first and only daughter to the world. Domagoj continued his practice as an architect in multiple Des Moines Architecture & Design firms including: BBS, SVPA Architects, Design Alliance, ETHOS Group and lastly Imprint Architects, where he worked until his passing.
Domagoj lived by providing for and taking care of his “girls”. There wasn’t anything he loved more than being a father and caring for his family. He will be missed.
Domagoj was always open to any deep conversation involving music or cinema. He was a passionate cinema-buff and avid Bowie, Genesis, Cohen listener. He would often touch those around him, either through humor or story, he was always a force in a room. He will be remembered by the people he cared for fiercely.
Domagoj is survived by his wife, Dijana Tiric, daughter, Mia Tiric, and brother, Damir Tiric.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nevenka, father, Dusko, and uncle Mladen.
