Helen Lack passed away in Des Moines on March 15th surrounded by friends and family after a very short battle with cancer. Helen was born, grew up and went to high school in Mason City, Iowa where she met her husband Jim in 1973. Helen attended Upper Iowa University where she earned her nursing degree and subsequently worked for Mercy Hospital for over 40 years. Her tireless dedication and compassion was evident to everyone, especially all the kids and parents she helped in the pediatric department. Helen leaves behind her husband Jim Lack, sister Sharon (Al) Anderson, children Joe (Tisha) Lack, Heather (Tim) Tickal, several nieces and nephews, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Fern Bunting, brother Wayne Bunting and son Jeff Lack. A memorial service will be held at the Merle Hay Funeral Chapel 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines IA 50310 on Thursday March 21st from 1 to 2 pm.
