James (Pete) Peterson, 77, of Windsor Heights, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 25th, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday June 6th at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Rd., Des Moines, IA. 50310, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery (Merle Hay Funeral Home).
Pete was born in Des Moines on June 28th, 1946, to John & June Peterson. He attended Roosevelt High School prior to joining the Air Force in March of 1966. After serving 4 years, Pete was honorably discharged in January of 1970. Pete spent most of his career in sales as a jeweler, prior to retiring in 2005. Pete was a proud member and past master of Acanthus Masonic Lodge #632, Eastern Star #530, Royal Arch, and Scottish Rite. Pete enjoyed golfing, attending the Indy 500, and cruising on Holland America Cruise Lines. He had an affinity for bald eagles and loved his Siberian huskies.
Pete is survived by his son, Eric (Jana), and granddaughters Paige & Avery. He was preceded in death by his father John H. Peterson, and mother E. June Peterson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday June 6th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. with burial to follow, all services will be at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310.
