Jerry Lee Thorne, died peacefully in his sleep, September 15, 2023. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Bernice Thorne. Jerry was tremendously supportive of Bernice as she pursued her ministry as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Jerry was born May 15, 1936, in Des Moines, IA., He was preceded in death by his parents Forrest E. Thorne & Maurine C. Thorne. He graduated from Drake University then joined the art department of Bankers Life now known as the Principal Financial Group.
Both Jerry and Bernice were avid collectors of antiques. They enjoyed traveling abroad and listening to Jazz. Jerry’s artistic talents could be seen in his original compositions and the numerous hand-crafted thank you cards which he shared with many friends over the years.
Jerry took his love of gardening to new heights when he became certified as a Master Gardener.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday November 4, 2023, at the Merle Hay Chaple 4400 Merle Hay Road Des Moines, IA. Rinaud Gentry officiating.
