Jim Magonegil, 68, passed away unexpectedly on June 1st, 2023. Born to Josephine and Laverne Magonegil Johnston Iowa.
Jim graduated from Johnston High School in 1973 then enrolled in the Aviation Technician program at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance where he attained his A/P licenses. He began his aviation career at Air Midwest. He then went on to become the Director of the Engine Shop at Northwest Airlines where he obtained his master’s degree in business from the University of Minnesota. He then became the Director of operations at Pratt and Whitney, Director of operations at Apex Engineering, General Manager of PAS Technologies, and the Executive and co-owner of Vector Windows.
Jim's passions were anything automotive, music, sports, politics and most importantly were his relationships with family and friends. Jim was a caring and supportive friend who was always there with understanding and a positive attitude and touched everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents Josephine and Laverne and is survived by his sister Jean.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11am on November 11th at the Merle Hay Funeral Home Chapel followed by the committal at Chapel Hills Cemetery, both at 4400 Merle Hay Road Des Moines.
