Karen Ann Hunt was born on June 17, 1947, in Osceola, Iowa. She died on July 26, 2023, at Bishop Drumm nursing home at the age of 76.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, July 31st, and a celebration of life will be held at 10 am Tuesday, August 1st, both at the Merle Hay Chapel. A burial will follow at the Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.
Karen grew up on a small farm in Osceola, Iowa. She moved to Des Moines after graduating from high school where she met Jerry. They were united in marriage on June 19, 1971, and recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Karen spent many years as a devoted homemaker later working at the post office and Sun Drug Hallmark store until her retirement.
Karen had a large extended family and thoroughly enjoyed going to family reunions and keeping in contact with everyone. One of her favorite hobbies was working on the family genealogy. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, crotchet and needlepoint.
Karen is survived by her husband Jerry of Johnston, son Allen of Marion, daughter Amy of Tiffin, and granddaughter Bryahna of Marion. She was preceded in death by her parents Art and Irene Hall of Osceola.
