Margaret McKean, "Marge", passed away September 15, 2021 at the age of 81. Marge was born February 23, 1940 to Gordan and Loretta Morehead in Carterville, Iowa, where she was raised alongside her eight brothers and sisters. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1960 and later moved from Mason City to Des Moines, Iowa, where she met and married William McKean.
Marge began her career at the Downtown Des Moines Younkers in the early 1990's and continued there until she retired in 2018. Her customers became her friends and over time she really made a name for herself. She was passionate about helping others and attended St. Mary's of the Nazareth Catholic Church where she was an active member and volunteer for over 40 years.
She is survived by her three children: Jackie Cummings (Robert Cummings), Mindy Marchand Tingley and Todd Marchand (Heidi Marchand), as well as multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Merle Hay Funeral Home Friday, October 8, at 11:00am.
Too know Marge was to love her. She had a way of bringing people together, especially her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
