Marilyn Joann Raines passed away at Methodist West Hospital on January 14, 2022, just two months shy of her 90th birthday. She was born March 20, 1932, raised in Des Moines and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She married Ben Givens and they had four children: Debbie (Marc), Steve (Becky), Karen (Pat), and Jeff (Susan). She had eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She loved animals, gardening, crafts, antiques, books, and her coffee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Megan.
To her care team at Methodist West Hospital where she spent her final weeks, the family is very grateful for the kind and compassionate care she received.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Merle Hay Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Animal Rescue League.
