Marjorie Bendixen, 91, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Prairie Hill Assisted Living.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Luther Memorial Church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00a.m. at 1201 Grandview, Des Moines. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at the Church.
Marjorie Elizabeth Guilliams was born on June 28, 1930, in Van Wert, Iowa; she was the daughter of George Wesley and Ethel (Bergereen) Guilliams.
She attended Lamoni Community School and graduated with the class of 1948. On July 18, 1953, Marjorie was united in marriage to Leif V. Bendixen in Osceola, Iowa at the Courthouse. The made their home in Des Moines and raised their family. Marjorie worked as a key punch operator and a Vault manager.
Leif and Marjorie in their early marriage would go on motorcycle trips together. Her first love was her family, but enjoyed reading, traveling, fishing, and camping.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Kim Vedel (Richard) Anderson of Mitchellville and son; Brett Vedel Bendixen of Des Moines, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, sisters; Maxine Dailey, Mary Ann Paine and many nieces and nephews.
In death Marjorie rejoins her parents; George and Ethel Guilliams, husband; Leif, son; Bartt, brothers; James, and George.
