Michiel “Mike” Flowers, 73 of Des Moines passed away on July 14, 2021, at home.
Michiel Lee Flowers was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 27, 1947; he was the son of Darell and Margaret-Ann Flowers. He attended school in the Des Moines School District and graduated from Tech High School with the class of 1966. Michiel served our country honorably in the United States Airforce for 4 years. On March 17, 2000, Mike was united in marriage with Debra McCallum in Des Moines where they raised and loved their blended family. Mike had worked as an Airplane Mechanic for several years and then worked for the United States Postal Service. He had a membership at the VFW. He enjoyed movies, computers, and video games and above all his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife; Debra “Deb” Flowers, mother; Margaret-Ann, children; Michele (Brian) Jobe of Keokuk, Iowa, Denise Flowers of Des Moines, Marcie (Tony) Wallace of Des Moines, Jamey Schrick (Mary Harris) of Burbank, California, Jason Schrick of Des Moines, Jenna (Kyle) Mathes of Stratford, Iowa, 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, siblings; Dana Flowers, Tim (Kim) Flowers and Daniel (Margie) Flowers.
In death Mike rejoins his father, Darell Flowers.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel, Iowa 50003
