Moisés Ruiz or “Moy” as his family and friends best knew him was born on July 16, 2000 in Chicago. He was the oldest of four and was his mother’s miracle baby as he was born at 28 weeks after his mother was in a car accident. As an infant, Moi and his parents moved to Mexico where he grounded his roots. Growing up Moi aspired to be a cowboy. His love for horses and animals set him apart. When back in the states, Moi and his family settled in Des Moines where he attended Capitol View Elementary School, Hoyt Middle School and East High School. Although he was only 20 years old, Moi affected many people in his life time. Since his death many have written about how special he was and how fortunate they were to have known him. His friends and family describe him as funny, charismatic and compassionate. Moi enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and family. He had a deep love for his family and he cherished the time they would spend together laughing, playing practical jokes on each other. He especially enjoyed being surrounded by his loved ones.He brought so much love and joy to his family and to those who were around him. Moi was full of life and enjoyed spending his summers fishing, swimming and horse back riding with his family.
Moises is be survived by his beloved daughter Noami Ruiz Munguia, his mother Luz Estrella Rico, his stepfather Jose Mayorga and his siblings Ramon Israel Ruiz, Nataly Mayorga, Rodrigo Mayorga, Andrea Leanos, Daisy Haro, Crystal Vela and Marco Rodriguez.
Lord, we ask that you keep him in your loving arms for eternity
