Muriel Ann Boggs



On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, Muriel Ann Boggs loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at age 81.


Muriel was born on July 28, 1940, in Shelbina, MO to LeRoy Wilson Minter and Maymie Maurine Newman. She was married to Orbie Boggs Jr. who “crashed” her 16th birthday party. They were married three years later, on May 15th, 1959. Spending 62 years forming their foundation and home. Raising two children; son Orbie Boggs III (Trey) and a daughter Kristin Boggs.


Muriel loved creating and capturing memories of her family. Taking pictures and filling photo albums of every moment. She had a passion for nurturing her family. She enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking, and family gatherings. Her favorite color was purple. She took a good hand at many hobbies, sewing, painting, and crafts. As well as modeling and acting. Performing in “Raisin in the Sun” at the Des Moines Playhouse. She carried a quiet essence of determination, positivity, and strength. She was the fabric that kept her family together.

Muriel was employed by Iowa Power and Company, now MidAmerican for 38 years in HR/Administration. Where she gained many close friends and continued those friendships beyond her retirement. Having ladies’ nights out to enjoy dinners and catch up with one another on their lives.


Muriel attended True Bible Baptist church for years before she took ill. She believed Jesus Christ was her personal savior. Her favorite passages were.


For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night but rejoicing comes in the morning. - Psalm 30:5

 

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:13


Muriel was preceded in death and welcomed home by her father, mother, and three brothers: Marion Minter, David Houston, and Brydest Houston Jr. She is survived by her husband Orbie Boggs Jr., sister Leah Kay Thompson. Two children; Orbie Boggs III (Trey) and Kristin Boggs. Grandchildren; Kisha Boggs, Ransel Maldonado, Zachary Walker, Ashley Walker, Nichelle Walker, Marshon Broadus, and Quincy Boggs. Several great grandchildren; cousins, nieces, and nephews.


A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 28th at True Bible Baptist Church 4101 Amherst St., Des Moines, IA 50313 Pastor Bradley will officiate.
