A Life Reflection

Nicole Mae Frazier was born April 10th, 1991, to Karin and Norman Jensen in Hood River, Oregon located in the shadows of Hood Mountain. When Nicole was a toddler, Norm’s job landed him another assignment, so Norm, Karin, and Nicole left the scenic Pacific Northwest and moved to the Heartland. They lived briefly in Slayton, Minnesota before accepting a permanent assignment in Urbandale, Iowa. As a young girl Nicole enjoyed participating in pageants, modeling, and dance. Nicole played softball in her elementary school years. She also adored spending time with her grandparents, baking cookies with Granny and driving to school with Papa everyday made their bond inseparable.

Nicole was a graduate of the Urbandale Community School District. She attended Karen Acres Elementary School, Urbandale Middle School, and Urbandale High School. She played the flute in the Marching Band and sang in the choir throughout her middle and high school years. Nicole also loved her time in the Drama Club. Nicole was a member of the National Honors Society as well as was awarded the Presidential Scholarship to attend Dana College. Upon graduating from high school in 2009, Nicole attended Dana College in Blair, Nebraska and after returning home to Des Moines she entered the workforce. Nicole spent many years enjoying working with children at Childcare Resource Daycare Center and Lutheran Church of Hope Daycare but chose to take a position at Jimmy John’s which led to a management position. Nicole eventually took her management skills over to Chili’s where she had spent the last two years enjoying working with customers and the staff there that became her friends.

Nicole had many interests including cooking, she loved making family favorites as well as trying new recipes and making them her own. Another love of Nicole’s was reading, she was an avid reader and collected many books, enough to eventually convert a room in their house into a library. She also had a strong love for video games, movies, and of course music. Nicole’s appreciation for music was broad and ranged from screamo to show tunes including everything in between with one notable exception, country.

Nicole was affectionately known as Snookum’s to Broderick Stephen Frazier, the love of her life whom she married on August 18th, 2019. They enjoyed spending their time together playing video games, bowling, traveling, camping, playing board games, and taking their dogs, Luna, and Marshmallow to various dog parks for play dates. Their love was truly one for the books; Nicole and Broderick complimented and completed each other in the best ways.

I am so very sorry Karin for your loss. I’ve met Nicole and remember what a nice, sweet young woman she was.

I am afraid I have a bunch of people coming to my house the 8th for an event so I won’t be able to be there, but know you are in my prayers. I’m always here for you. Hugs and much love.
