Ruth Jane Fugate, 74, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the University Park Care Center in Des Moines. Ruth and her twin sister Rita were the last of the 18 children born to William & Gertrude (O’Bryan) Fugate. Ruth never married but was surrounded by a tremendous extended family. She retired from Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines after more than 40 years of service.
A celebration of life will be held at the Merle Hay Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, on Friday June 23rd at 11 am. Her cremated remains will be interred at the Calvary Cemetery in Webster City at a later date.
Ruth is survived by 5 siblings: her twin Rita Siepker, sisters, Bea Essex, Carol Kurland & Pat Fugate, and brothers, Leo & Paul, and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
