Scott Alan Erickson, 59, passed away on March 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 1, 1965, Scott took great pride in being an April Fools’ baby, a fitting tribute to his quick wit and love of laughter.
Scott never met a stranger—his warm personality and sense of humor made him a friend to everyone he encountered. Beneath his jokester exterior was a big old teddy bear with a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. He had a deep love for sports, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Cubs, and with unwavering passion. A true math whiz, he enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, and testing his luck at the casino. No matter the setting, Scott made sure to bring fun, laughter, and a competitive spirit to the table.
He is survived by his siblings, Billye Jo (Leo) Ryan and Ed (Julie) Erickson; his brother-in-law Gary Stone, his stepson, Andrew Goodman and son Seth Alan Erickson; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Bill Erickson, and his sister, Lynda Stone.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines for their compassionate care during Scott’s final month of treatment, and to Harmony House and Suncrest Hospice for keeping him comfortable in his final days.
Scott’s life was filled with laughter, love, and an undeniable knack for making every moment count. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the many stories, jokes, and memories he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be on May 10th. Details will follow.
