Shawn Hoffman


Shawn Allen Hoffman 46, went to meet his Lord on the morning of June 16th, 2024. He was born on November 8, 1977, in Des Moines IA to Kathleen and Daniel Hoffman.


Shawn grew up with his siblings Scott and Rachelle outside of Lucas IA, moving to Des Moines when he was 6. In 1996 he graduated from North High School and joined his brother Scott working for Rhiner brother’s plumbing. Both he and Scott began to work for Proctor mechanical, they were joined by their cousin Jeremy Cook. Shawn returned to school and gained a degree in IT. He worked for Mercy One in Newton as a network administrator.


He was a man of great faith. He attended and worked with the youth groups at Union Park Baptist church in Des Moines for years. When he moved to Newton to be closer to his work he continued his worship at Community Heights Church in Newton.


Shawn loved to play games. He has a vast collection of board games and meticulously painted miniatures. He served as Dungeon master for many games of D&D with friends and family. Every holiday and family gathering involved game play of some sort. Shawn passed his love for games to his nephews Demitri, Nicholas and Roman. If you knew Shawn, you knew his gentle humble soul. He was soft spoken, kind, loving and a friend to all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen and Daniel Hoffman.


He is survived by his siblings Scott Hoffman (Mischa) and Rachelle Puffett (James) all of Des Moines IA. His nephews Demitri Marley, Nicholas and Roman Hoffman. He also leaves behind numerous beloved family members and friends near and far.


A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 11 am at the Merle Hay Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Rd in Des Moines.


His light may have dimmed, but it will continue to shine through us.
