Sheryl Jean Henry, age 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 15th, 2023, at Mercy Hospital after an unexpected illness. She was born November 22nd, 1948, in Des Moines Iowa to Frank James Hunter Sr. and Norma Jean (Carmichael) Van Zuuk. She was the oldest of 7 children.
She attended Abraham Lincoln High School in Des Moines, IA, and later a community business School for retail and merchandising.
She worked in bill collections for many years before retiring in 2009.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing scrabble, drawing, painting, numerous crafts, and traveling. Her best times were spent with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
She was a very giving and generous person to many and sometimes to a fault.
She truly lived and loved life!
She is survived by her son Robert Shehan of Des Moines Iowa; her daughter Ragina (Shane) Stewart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 4 Grandchildren Joey, Jamie, Ayla and Axton and 7 Great Grandchildren; her sisters Sheila (Bill), Peggy, and Therese; her brothers John (Shirley) and Jody (Cassie); her sister-in-law Beth and her special friend Kenny.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Frank.
Her wishes were to be cremated with no funeral services.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
