Shirley, 88, passed away on November 13, 2021 at Pine Acres in West Des Moines. There will be a memorial service for her at 4 p.m., Tuesday, at Merle Hay Funeral Home.
Shirley was born November 7, 1933. She was one of nine children born to Willard and Elva (Rothrock) Day. Shirley primarily grew up in the Webster City area. She eventually settled in Urbandale, where she resided for many years. Shirley had worked in several roles for Sears, and retired in 1998. She enjoyed sewing, reading, ballroom dancing, and traveling. Shirley taught herself about financial planning.
Shirley is lovingly remembered by her son, Chuck (Jo-Ann); son, Dennis; and daughter, Ginny (Rob) Malcomson; four grandchildren: Courtney (David) Marshall, Theresa (Dan) Bastian, David (Sherri) Lahvic, and Lauren Malcomson; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris (Joe) Bonnstetter and Sandy Van Winkle.
