Susie Marie Rogers was born April 8, 1962, to John Dewey Rogers & Cyrilla Manlove Rogers. Susie lived in Ft. Pierre, SD the first year of her life, then a terrible accident took her mother and older sister. Susie, her brother, and sister moved to Rudd, IA to reside with the Melvin Apels family. She resided there in Rudd from 1963 until January 1974, when she moved to Ankeny, IA to live with the Dwayne & Dolores Van Oort family. There she had many wonderful changing life happenings. She graduated from Ankeny high school in 1981. In the following fall she went to Culinary Arts at DMACC until 1982. Susie wanted to be a veterinarian but chose Culinary Arts.
Susie met her husband Rich Sherman in the summer of 1981, and they married in November 1983. Susie and Rich lived in Des Moines and had their first child Kara Anne Sherman on June 20, 1986. Then two years later added Jessica Marie Sherman on June 9, 1988, to the family. Two years later added Michael Scott Sherman on August 15, 1990, to the crew. Susie’s children gave her lots and lots of love.
Susie is preceded in death by her mother and father, a sister, Pamela, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Susie is survived by daughters; Kara (Carlos) Sherman Mata, Jessica (Tommy) Sherman Howe, son; Michael Sherman, 12 grandchildren who were the love of grandma’s life, father of her children; Rich Sherman; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 17, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Rd., Des Moines, IA. Funeral will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
