Updated: Apr 29, 2023

Therese (Terri) Jeanne Brady, 78, of Des Moines, joined her heavenly family passing away peacefully at home on March 10, 2023. Terri was born on May 17, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois to Marjorie and Charles Roth. She grew up in Dixon, Illinois and eventually Des Moines, graduating from North High School in 1962. Following high school, Terri studied Accounting at La Salle Extension University. In 1966 she met Donald Brady and together they were united in marriage in 1967. To their union was born two sons, Mark and Michael. Terri worked much of her life as a bookkeeper, retiring from Agri-Grain Marketing in 2004.

Terri was an avid philatelist (stamp collector) her entire life, even operating her own mail order stamp business with husband Don for several years. Her varied interests included selling Avon, needlepoint and latch-hook art, and participating in an investment club. Terri was a devoted mother, eagerly participating in her son’s many years of youth bowling activities which took the family all around the Midwest. She also discovered a love for all things Disney, which led to numerous trips to DisneyWorld and passing on that love for Disney her children and grandchildren. Following a trip to Switzerland in 1991, Terri developed a passion for overseas travel which continued until her health would no longer allow it. She delighted in researching and eventually visiting such places as Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Scotland, and Thailand.

Attending her grandkid’s many events over the years was a joy to Terri as was having them over for a slumber party with grandma. She will always be remembered for her amusing laugh, sweet nature, and loving kindness. Following the debilitating stroke several years ago, Terri fought hard to walk again and move back home where she wanted to be and where she could live out the remainder of her years. During this time, she had much fun re-discovering her love of game shows and cheering on her favorite college basketball and football teams.

Terri is preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Those left to honor Terri’s memory include her sons Mark (Julie) Brady of Urbandale and Michael Brady of Des Moines, stepdaughters Beth (Curt) Gerlach of Prosper, Texas and Julie (Barry) Willoughby of Des Moines, brother Ron (Carol) Braun of McKinney, Texas, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
