Thomas Drake of Des Moines, 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Sunny View in Ankeny.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 16th at 10:30 am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2926 Beaver Ave, Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time at the church.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Janet K. Drake and his parents, Arvel and Jan Drake.
He is survived by his brother Jim Drake (Sharon), daughters Julie Kain (David) and Nicole Drake, grandson Rye Drake Lenz, nieces and nephews, Jenna Drake, Ron Drake, Joe Thornburg, Jenny Thornburg, and Shelby Thornburg.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife Janet, Oklahoma Sooners football, collecting baseball cards, and spending time with his cats. He served in the Navy in the Vietnam war and then worked for the Veterans Administration for over 35 years. In his spare time, he coached girls softball for many years.
Memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Des Moines.
