Timothy “Tim” Charles Cowles, age 62, passed away on February 13, 2023. Tim was born to Frances (O’Deay) Cowles and Gerald Cowles on June 25, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa. Tim lived in, and went to school in Madrid, Iowa. He married his wife Chone on August 19, 2015 in Boone, Iowa.
Tim worked as a tire builder at Firestone for many years. In his free time everybody that knew Tim knew that he loved fishing! Fishing second-nature to him and found that in his hobby he could spread his love. He spread his love of fishing through feeding the Laos and Madrid Community the fish he would catch. All day long he would spend time catching what he could and wouldn’t come back home until he had some catch for the day. Tim was compassionate and had a heart of gold for everyone he knew and loved.
Tim is preceded in death by his mother Frances, brother Mac Cowles, nephew Charles Cowles and nephew Timothy Cowles.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Chone, his father Gerald Cowles, sister Christina Simpson, sister Mary Cowles-Bennethum, sister Karen Humphrey (Mark), sister Belle Cowles, sister Teresa Becker, brother Patrick Cowles (Janet) and sister Millie Jones-Cowles (Yvonne). Nieces and nephews, Michael Simpson, Rod Bennethum, Rikki Bennethum, Brandon Bennethum, Dustin Humphrey, Jacob Humphrey, Steffanie, Jacqueline, Nathaniel Becker, Madalaine Cowles. Sisters-in-law, Katie Huang and Syrathda Mattison. Tim was also survived by many great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and the Madrid community.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 20th at St. Malachy’s Church (207 Gerald St, Madrid, IA) at 10:00AM. Following the service, there will be a luncheon to further commemorate Tim’s life at 12:00PM at Madrid Community Room (303 S Water St, Madrid, IA).
